This lesson will cover the basics of entering and exiting the surf zone, launching and landing in the surf, how to handle breaking waves  and open water rescues.  Topics include side surfing, bracing, wave dynamics and surf zone safety.  Students must have BCU 3* or equivalent skills. A roll is not necessary but you must be able to perform a controlled wet exit. A helmet is required and sprayskirt will be required.
NOTE: Surf zone classes are ESPECIALLY subject to last minute (on the day of the event) cancellation due to weather, high surf, wind, or other safety considerations. Please be aware that we cannot always predict such conditions in advance.
