Learn the basics of sea kayaking and recieve a
certificate of achievement from a world recognized Sea kayaking
organization the British Canoe Union! This is a great way to get started
in the sport in a fun and relaxed environment. All you need to do is
complete this course, no tests, no pressure and you will be receive an
award certificate demonstrating your new skills! This introductory course
is aimed at those just starting out
in the world of Seakayaking or
just those wanting to learn some new skills.
The course is designed around the features and capabilities of sea
kayaks, the long pointy ones! although most touring style boats are fine.
We will concentrate mainly on boat control We will cover forward and
reverse paddling, efficient turning and stopping, touch on recovery
strokes and braces. We will also incorporating the features of the
boat such as edging to assist turning. we will do basic water safety and
we will even work on launching and landing the boats. This is a 6 hour
course so bring lunch and plenty of water!
