Policy/FAQS

Registration and Cancellation
All group Tours and Lessons have a maximum of 6 to 1 client to guide ratio. For this reason we have a strict reservation and cancellation policy.  A deposit of 50% is due upon registration.  The deposit can be refunded up to 2 weeks prior to the trip/lesson.  Cancellation within 2 weeks will forfeit the deposit, however you may reschedule.

We try very hard not to cancel our programs.  We run our tours and lessons  in most weather conditions.  Electrical storms and high winds give us more problems.  If we need to cancel of course we will refund your deposit.  It is important that the phone number you leave us is where you can be reached in the case that we do need to cancel a trip or lesson.

Guides and Instructors
All of our head guides and instructors are BCU or ACA certified.  They are also certified in CPR and First Aid. Every guide carries safety gear minimally including: Two way Radio, First Aid Kit, Towing systems, Emergency water, food and spare clothing and paddles and a Repair Kit.  For some lessons and tours the gear is more extensive.

Children
Most of our tours are for 16 and above.  We do have several programs that cater to or include children.  These are the Town Cove Tour, Kids in Kayaks and the Young Adult lessons.  If you wish to plan an outing with young children please contact us perhaps a private tour is the way to go.

Clothing and Footwear:
We do not have a set policy on clothing.  We do offer some guidelines.  It is best to wear clothing of the fast drying/wicking type that can keep you warm when wet and dry quickly. You can expect to get wet from splash over and paddle dripping. In the spring and fall the water can be very cold as well as the air.  In these seasons cotton clothing is not recommended as it will not keep you warm when wet nor dry quickly and hypothermia can be a real possibility.

Footwear should be protective and able to be worn in the water. Your feet will most likely get your feet wet entering and exiting the kayak.   Any type of water sandal is fine, flip-flops are not appropriate.  You should also bring a protective hat, sunglasses a wind breaker if conditions warrant, and sunscreen

Some lessons require sturdy footwear and appropriate clothing such as water safety and surf zone.  For these sessions you may want to bring a change of clothes.

Restrooms
There are porti-potties available at out facility.  Some of the tour locations have restroom at the starting point but not all.  The 2 hour tours do no include a break.  The longer tours we try to stop at least once for a bio-break.  Please be aware there will most likely not be facilities available where we stop.

Lunch/Snacks
Tours and lessons do not include lunch.  Fell free to bring a snack along on any tour or lesson.  On longer tours and lessons we will let you know if you should bring a lunch.  Always bring water.

Alcoholic Beverages
We do not allow alcohol on any of our tours or lessons. This includes private tours.  This policy also extends to our Kayak Rentals.
