INTRODUCTION TO THE SURF ZONE
Description: After spending time paddling in the flatwater, explore the opportunities of the surf zone at Nauset Spit. This course is designed for those paddlers who are interested in learning how to safely negotiate the break water. Topics include the fundamentals of a beach landing and launching in the Atlantic Ocean, bracing in breaking waves, how to ferry across a spit current, cross eddy lines, and rip currents. Introduction to Kayaking and Tidal Current Course is a pre-requisite or equivalent paddling ability.
